TCU announces extension for head men's basketball coach Jamie Dixon
Following a successful season for TCU that saw the Horned Frogs advance to the Round of 32 in the NCAA Tournament, the school has given head men’s basketball coach Jamie Dixon a contract extension. The new deal will keep Dixon under contract through the 2027-2028 season.
Dixon took the TCU head coaching position ahead of the 2016-2017 season. He immediately led the Horned Frogs to a championship in the NIT Tournament, going 24-15 overall. TCU then returned to the NCAA Tournament in the following year, losing in the opening round. The Horned Frogs went back to the NIT in 2018-2019, this time losing in the semifinals.
After a two-year postseason absence, TCU returned to the big dance this season. The Horned Frogs made the NCAA Tournament this year as a No. 9 seed, and defeated eighth-seeded Seton Hall 69-42 in the opening round. TCU then played well against No. 1 seed Arizona, but ultimately fell 85-80.
Overall, Dixon is 117-84 as TCU’s head coach. The Horned Frogs are 42-64 during Big 12 play during his tenure. Dixon previously spent many years at Pittsburgh’s head coach before coming to TCU. There, he compiled a 328-123 record, giving him a career coaching record of 445-207.
TCU, Dixon comment on extension
TCU officially announced Dixon’s contract extension in a release on Friday. Jeremiah Donati, TCU’s AD, released a statement in that release, sharing his excitement to be keeping Dixon around even longer.

“Coach Dixon has done an unbelievable job building our men’s basketball program in his six seasons at TCU,” said Donati. “He and his staff have developed young men in our program who represent TCU so well on and off the court. They have established a basketball culture on campus that makes everyone proud.
“I know I speak for our entire fan base and community when I say that we could not be more excited about the future and the trajectory we are on.”
Now, Dixon is looking to build off of the momentum TCU saw this past season. The Horned Frogs showed tremendous growth and improvement this year, and he is looking to carry that into next year and beyond.
“I’m thankful for the belief, trust and support from Chancellor Victor Boschini and Jeremiah Donati,” said Dixon. “Our program has improved greatly under their outstanding leadership. I’m excited to build on what we accomplished this past year and eager to get back in the gym to prepare for next season.”
