LOOK: TCU baseball ties school record with 30 runs against Kansas

The runs just kept coming for TCU baseball on Saturday. By the time the Horned Frogs had finished their contest against Kansas, they had scored 30 times, tying a school record for the most runs in a single game.

Left fielder Porter Brown also set a new school record with 10 RBIs, including two home runs and a double while going 4-for-6 at the plate. In total, TCU had five homers on the day from four different players as they secured a dominant 30-3 victory.

The victory was the third straight for the Horned Frogs, who improved their record to 30-18 and 14-8 in Big 12 play. They currently sit at third place in the conference behind Texas Tech and Oklahoma State. Aside from Brown, Brody Green, Gray Rodgers and Brayden Taylor were the other TCU baseball players to record home runs.

In all, the Horned Frogs finished with 18 hits, with Elijah Nunez also hitting a triple. Rodgers finished second behind Brown with three hits, while four other TCU players recorded two apiece.

Marcelo Perez got the start at pitcher, doing six innings of work before he was finally relieved. In that time, he recorded five strikeouts and allowed seven hits to improve his season record to 5-2.

With the win, TCU secured the series against the Jayhawks after defeating them in Friday’s opener by a score of 15-6. The Horned Frogs will attempt to complete the sweep Sunday, when the final game of the series is scheduled for 3 p.m. ET.

That will close out Big 12 regular season play, as TCU will close out the year with a series against Santa Clara on May 19-21. After that they will prepare for Big 12 Tournament play, which will take place May 25-30 at the Bricktown Ballpark in Oklahoma City.
