TCU moves into top 25 of On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings
Sonny Dykes & Co. landed a commitment from a major defensive prospect Friday evening, and it moved TCU up eight spots to No. 23 in the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings.
Humble (Texas) Summer Creek four-star EDGE Chad Woodfork announced his commitment to the Horned Frogs, entering the class as the top-rated prospect of the group.
Woodfork is the nation’s No. 111 overall prospect, No. 17 EDGE and No. 19 recruit from Texas in the 2025 cycle according to the On3 Industry Ranking — a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
He ranks No. 49 overall and No. 6 among edge rushers in the 2025 On300.
Woodfork told On3’s Chad Simmons that it’s a “unified team” in Fort Worth and that “they all want to get back to that national championship.”
“They made feel like a priority,” Woodfork said. “They text me and my whole family, they did a great job with me. It was a great feeling getting recruited so hard by them.”
Defensive coordinator Andy Avalos played a big role in Woodfork’s recruitment. He’s in his first season at TCU after spending three years as Boise State’s head coach.

“I committed to TCU because of the player development,” Woodfork said. “Coach Avalos is great and has history. Then it is about the opportunities on and off the field and I see a great path to get on the field.”
TCU Class Breakdown
Woodfork is the highest-ranked recruit among three On3 Industry blue-chippers pledged to TCU. He joins San Antonio Claudia Taylor Johnson four-star quarterback Ty Hawkins and Austin (Texas) Anderson four-star athlete Ed Small at the top of the commit list.
Earlier this month, Hawkins earned an Elite 11 Finals invitation for this summer in Los Angeles.
There are few higher honors for high school quarterbacks than being invited to the Elite 11 Finals. The event, which will celebrate its 25th year in 2024, brings together the country’s elite signal-callers for three days of competition and training in Los Angeles.
Elite 11 alumni include Carson Palmer, Andrew Luck, Matthew Stafford, Tim Tebow, and more recently Trevor Lawrence, C.J. Stroud, Bryce Young and more. Last year’s Elite 11 Finals featured more than a dozen of the top 20 quarterbacks in the final On3 Industry Rankings, including each of the top five players at the position.
