Schools in and around the Lone Star State have continued to battle for Humble (Texas) Summer Creek four-star EDGE Chad Woodfork.

Earlier this week at the On3 Elite Series, an educational seminar discussing the new era of NIL and navigating life after football, Woodfork told On3’s Steve Wiltfong that he is down to LSU, TCU and Texas Tech. One of those schools is now trending in the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM).

On Thursday, On3 Director of Recruiting Chad Simmons logged a pick in favor of the Horned Frogs landing the 6-foot-4, 215-pounder. Sonny Dykes‘ program now has the RPM edge at 87.3%, way ahead of the Red Raiders and the Tigers.

Woodfork didn’t mince words when speaking with On3, naming TCU the top school in his recruitment right now, labeling the in-state program “the whole package.” He took his OV to Fort Worth at the beginning of May, and Dykes, new defensive coordinator Andy Avalos and Co. knocked it out of the park.

“I took my first official to TCU a couple weeks ago, and they set the bar pretty high,” Woodfork said. “It was a pretty good visit. That’s a great staff over there, especially their new defensive coordinator, coach Avalos. He would also be my position coach, so that’s a pretty good deal.”

A pair of crucial official visits to LSU and Texas Tech loom, however. Woodfork will head to Baton Rouge the weekend of June 14, then make his way to Lubbock the following weekend. Both programs are also pushing hard for his commitment and will look to make a splash in June.

Woodfork says he’s currently aiming to make his decision around July. Plenty can change in the coming weeks, but the Horned Frogs look to be honing in on a centerpiece addition to their 2025 recruiting class.

He ranks No. 72 overall and No. 10 at the EDGE spot in the 2025 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He also checks in at No. 49 overall and No. 6 at his position in the updated 2025 On300.

Horned Frogs seeking top-25 recruiting class

Dykes and his staff are on the cusp of an impressive class in the 2025 cycle. Currently with 11 commits in the fold, the class ranks No. 29 in the nation and No. 4 in the Big 12, according to the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings.

Woodfork would be the top-ranked prospect in the class if he were to commit to the Frogs, but there is already some other firepower on the pledge list. Most notably, San Antonio Claudia Taylor Johnson four-star quarterback commit Ty Hawkins is a top-150 recruit, the No. 12 QB in the cycle and an Elite 11 Finals invitee.

Other top commits in the class include Austin (Texas) Anderson four-star athlete Ed Small, Pearland (Texas) Shadow Creek three-star linebacker Anthony Williams, Nashville Ensworth three-star LB Sam Haley, Garland (Texas) Naaman Forest three-star wide receiver Chance Ables and Spring (Texas) three-star defensive lineman Floyd Guidry.
