The TCU Horned Frogs are obliterating the Arkansas Razorbacks on Sunday evening in the Fayetteville Regional of the 2023 NCAA Baseball Tournament. The Horned Frogs are currently up 17-4 and infielder Tre Richardson has been a massive part of that. He came into Sunday with two home runs on the season, but somehow managed to belt two grand slams against Arkansas. Not only that, but he also just belted his third home run of the day against the Hogs.

Check it out below as his two-run shot, his third home run of the evening, clears the wall.

The TCU batter had a historic afternoon on Sunday, to say the least.

He finished with three home runs and 11 RBIs to help lead the Horned Frogs to the resounding 20-5 victory over the Razorbacks. The performance also put him in the record books.

Richardson’s 11 RBIs ties the record for the most in a single postseason game. He finished the matchup 5-for-6 with three home runs and three runs scored as TCU had its way as the Horned Frogs advanced to the Regional Final. They’ll take on the winner of Arkansas’ rematch with Santa Clara, which is coming up later Sunday night.

Richardson entered the day with just two home runs on the season. He also had a .310 batting average and a .811 OPS coming into the matchup.

TCU now has a 39-22 record overall. The winner of the TCU vs. Arkansas game will advance to the Super Regional round of the 2023 NCAA Tournament.

TCU had won 15 of its last 17 contests entering play Sunday, including a 12-5 blowout over Oklahoma State in the Big 12 Championship. The Horned Frogs scored double-digit runs in all but one of their Big 12 Tournament games.

The Horned Frogs are putting on standout performances together against standout pitchers. Arkansas pitcher Hagan Smith started the game. Smith entered Sunday’s outing with a 2.69 ERA and 102 strikeouts, ranking top-40 in the nation.

After retiring Smith, Arkansas coach Dave Van Horn tried out Zack Morris and Austin Ledbetter. They combined to allow eight hits and 11 earned runs in 2.0 innings of work. Austin Ledbetter came in during the third inning and allowed six runs on nine hits through 6.0 innings of work prior to the second delay of the game.

Arkansas fell to Texas A&M in the SEC Tournament, but still entered the NCAA Tournament as the No. 3 seed. They brought a 42-16 overall record and a 20-10 record in conference action into the game against TCU after knocking off Santa Clara earlier in the regional round. Rain wound up delaying the matchup with the Horned Frogs to Sunday.

The Razorbacks, however, bounced back to beat Santa Clara 6-4 Sunday night, meaning they’ll have another matchup against Tre Richardson and TCU Monday. The start time for that one will be 2:00 PM.
