Tre Richardson, Brayden Taylor address how Charles Schwab Field in Omaha plays

The TCU Horned Frogs’ baseball team begins their quest for the first national championship in school history on Friday afternoon, as they are set to take on the Oral Roberts Golden Eagles. They are set to get underway on Friday at 2:00 PM EST on Charles Schwab Field in Omaha, Nebraska. The Horned Frogs have lost just three games since May 1st, and they’ve won 11 in a row entering the 2023 College World Series. Recently, Tre Richardson and Brayden Taylor broke down how Charles Schwab Field in Omaha has been playing.

Tre Richardson and Brayden Taylor shared their thoughts on Charles Schwab Field for the 2023 College World Series

“Well, first thing I want to say is we’ve played majority of our games in Lupton this year, so I would say that considering that, we’re in a pretty sweet spot,” Richardson began. “We took BP [batting practice] out there. It seemed like if you hit the baseball pretty well, it was going to do something. So, you know, we take that with a grain of salt. We know the type of team that we are, and we know our identity.”

“Regardless of at the ballpark if the ball flies or doesn’t fly, we’re just going to go out there and play the type of game that we’ve played and do what got us here and keep on doing it, so…” Richardson said.

Richardson played a pivotal role in propelling the Horned Frogs to Omaha. He blasted three home runs in the same game in the Fayetteville Regional against the Arkansas Razorbacks. Richardson finished that game with three home runs and 11 RBIs in guiding TCU to a resounding 20-5 victory over the Razorbacks. His 11 RBIs tied the NCAA record for the most RBIs in a single postseason game.

Brayden Taylor just said that his team just needs to focus on going out and playing well and not worrying about the different field or stadium. “Just to build off that, I don’t think it really matters how each ballpark plays as a mindset goes for an offense, but I feel like if we go up there and play our good baseball, not change our approach. We’re not trying to go up there and hit home runs. Trying to get a good pitch to hit and put a good swing on it. That’s all we have to do,” said Taylor.

There are six other teams in Omaha for the 2023 College World Series. All of the final eight teams are extremely talented, so it should be a competitive battle for the national crown. Other teams in Omaha include the Florida Gators, the Virginia Cavaliers, the Tennessee Volunteers, the LSU Tigers, the Stanford Cardinal, and the Wake Forest Demon Deacons.
