The TCU Horned Frogs have punched their ticket to Omaha after defeating Indiana State in their Super Regional showdown. The Horned Frogs were just the second team on Saturday, with the Florida Gators being the first to secure a spot in the College World Series. After their 6-4 victory over the number 14 ranked team in the nation, TCU celebrated the monumental achievement with their home crowd fans.

You can see that celebration in the video below.

TCU had to overcome an early 2-0 deficit as the Sycamores came out of the gate flying. In the first inning, Indiana State scored on back-to-back singles, giving them the early lead. However, the Horned Frogs battled back with a monstrous fourth inning scoring five runs to take a 5- 2 lead. TCU would add one more run in the sixth inning to give them a 6-2 lead. Indiana State tried to battle back, scoring two runs in the sixth as well, but in the end, it wasn’t enough.

TCU made quick work of Indiana State, beating them in two games and sweeping them out of the tournament. Freshman pitcher Kole Klecker was dominant Friday vs. the Sycamores in the Horned Frogs’ opening game win in the Fort Worth Super Regional. He settled in and delivered a brilliant performance on the mound, striking out nine batters en route to earning his 10th win of the season.

Klecker only allowed three hits and pitched seven scoreless innings. His big-time performance played a critical role in lifting the Horned Frogs to a 4-1 victory over the Sycamores in the opening game of the series.

Klecker discussed his masterful performance on Friday in TCU’s Game 1 win

Following his impressive performance, Klecker spoke with the ESPNU broadcast crew about it. What was his approach coming into the Game 1 matchup in the Super Regional against the Sycamores?

“I wouldn’t really say it depends what the team does, I kinda stick to how I like to pitch and that’s get after hitters, throw strikes, let my defense work behind me. And a lot of stuff was working today so I just kind of kept the same approach I’ve had all year and obviously had success with it. And today was just another game, so I’m excited we came out with the win,” Klecker said on the field after the game.

His nine-strikeouts were a season-high and Klecker had the slider working with flawless efficiency on Friday evening.
