4-star TE DaSaahn Brame flips his commitment to Tennessee: 'We felt it was the best decision for me'
Derby (Kan.) tight end DaSaahn Brame was on the verge of committing to Tennessee late in June. In the final hours, Oregon regained that momentum and landed his commitment. Josh Heupel and the Vols didn’t go away though.
Communication stayed consistent and the four-star has flipped his commitment to the SEC program in Knoxville.
This goes back to his visits. That is when Tennessee made its move for Brame.
“It was my second visit to Tennessee, when I was there in the spring, that is when I went more in-depth with staff, I saw practice, I hung out with recruits and that started Tennessee’s movement on my list,” Brame told On3.
“I liked Oregon a lot early, my mind started to change a little from Oregon after that visit and Tennessee gave me a lot more to think about. I kept in communication with both schools, took official visits to Tennessee and Oregon, then talked multiple nights with my parents this week and I made up my mind it was Tennessee. It was a very tough decision, but we just felt that the best decision for me was to go to Tennessee.”
Brame chose Tennessee over Oregon for multiple reasons
Tennessee pulled away late before Oregon came on at the very end and got his commitment. The No. 98 prospect in the On3 Industry Ranking likes Oregon a lot, but Brame Tennessee a little more.

“Every time I was at Tennessee for a visit, I didn’t want to leave,” Brame said. “Knoxville is an amazing place with great people and a great coaching staff. The campus is beautiful, most dream of playing in a place like Neyland Stadium and the fans are crazy.
“Then I get to play in a great offense for an offensive-minded head coach that I have a great relationship with. Coach Heupel spent a lot of time with me on my official visit, we have talked a lot and he wants to move me around, put me in the slot, flex me out and do a lot of things with me.
“Tennessee has a great offense, all of the players accepted me and they have real history at tight end. Tennessee is just a great place for me. On my official visit, I felt like I was already part of the team and it felt like home.”
