Tennessee took care of business against Florida 4-0 during their showdown at the SEC Softball Tournament on Friday.

The Volunteers were led by star pitcher Ashley Rogers, who shut down the Gators offense throughout the day, while outfielder Kiki Milloy did her thing at the dish. Afterwards, ESPN’s Holly Rowe caught up with the ladies to get their thoughts on the dub.

“We just wanted to come in here and compete,” explained Rogers, who did just that on the mound on Friday. “Just play freely. Just play with each other, and just go out there and just have fun with each other.”

Of course, Rogers didn’t allow any runs during her time on the mound, and she elaborated to Rowe what her thought-process was while throwing gas.

“Just trying to mix it up. Not trying to sit on one pitch or one side of the plate. Just trying to mix it completely,” added the Volunteers star pitcher. “I think it paid off.”

Meanwhile, Milloy came through with a big home run for the Volunteers, which helped Tennessee secure their 4-0 victory. She told Rowe what she was looking for at the plate, and it’s obvious that she got it.

“Just go in there and attack,” explained Milloy. “Looked for a pitch over the white. That’s what I did.”

Afterwards, her teammates put a chip on her shoulder in the dugout, symbolizing the proverbial chip on Tennessee’s shoulder entering the SEC Softball Tournament. Milloy, Rogers and Rowe had a night laugh about it.

“I don’t even know what that was,” Milloy said. “They just came in there and said put this chip on your shoulder. … I was trying to (eat it), it fell off the back.”

Moving forward, Rogers is ready to see how far Tennessee can go in the SEC Softball Tournament, believing the Volunteers have a lot more to accomplish.

“We just wanted to come out here be our best selves,” added Ashley. “We don’t want to come out here and look at what we did in the regular season. We wanted to come out here and compete, compete, compete. Every single pitch, and every single game.”

Additionally, Milloy echoed her sentiment, believing there’s plenty of work to be done for Tennessee.

“I think that just shows like, all of our hard work throughout the entire regular season,” added Milloy.” Like you said, we’re not done and we’re still here. We’re hoping to have a long postseason.”

A fantastic season is boiling over into the SEC Softball Tournament for the Tennessee Volunteers, and there could be many more trophies to come for these ladies.
