4-star Austin Swartz talks Tennessee offer; looks toward setting first official

Austin Swartz came in at No. 41 in the most recent 2024 On3 150. The 6-foot-5 guard took an unofficial visit on Saturday to watch the Volunteers defeat Texas 82-71. Swartz walked away with a Tennessee offer, his 16th of the cycle.
On3 caught up with Austin Swartz shortly after the offer was extended to get his reaction on the game, the offer, and what is next.
In Swartz’s words
“The game was awesome,” Swartz told On3. “Tennessee truly played a complete game. That atmosphere was insane tonight. They played a balanced attack on offense, really got into the paint, but also knocked down threes when they needed it. They played really good defense, too, keeping most of the guards under control.”
The four-star played up in age this summer with Team CLT on the UAA Next Circuit. Despite being one of the youngest on the team, Swartz led them in scoring at 14.1 points on 2.8 made threes per game.
“I can definitely see myself at Tennessee. Coach (Rick) Barnes is a great coach, and his coaching staff is awesome. I believe they can help me get where I want to go.

“I can see myself there as a great fit. I’ve been talking with Coach (Justin) Gainey a lot, and he’s been explaining to offense to me. I like I can not only make plays on the ball but off the ball too, coming off screens and pen downs, etc.”
Swartz talks official visits
“I’m looking to set my first official visit with Illinois when my season is over,” Swartz said.
“I like their offense. They like to score a lot of points, and they give their guards the freedom to do what they do. That is intriguing to me.”
