Tennessee slugger Blake Burke has been one of the best power hitters in college baseball the past few seasons. And on Saturday against the Auburn Tigers, he cemented a special place in Volunteer baseball history. Burke blasted a home run to become the school’s all-time leader. He hit the 41st home run of his career, shattering the record once held by Luc Lipcius in 2022.

Tennessee has been handling Auburn, leading 12-0 in the 7th inning. Burke hit his solo shot to left center in the fourth inning to push the Volunteers lead to 9-0. The game is being televised on SEC Network+. Tennessee has showcased the exceptional amount of power in their lineup, hitting six home runs.

Auburn finally got two runs on the scoreboard in the seventh inning, cutting the Vols lead to 12-2. But that would be the final score on Saturday, as Tennessee would win in seven innings.

Burke recently blasted his program-tying 40th home run in a win over No. 22 Georgia on March 30th. He also scored three runs and had two RBIs in that game.

In 2023, Burke blasted a 479-foot, two-run deep ball against Southern Miss in the Super Regionals. The pivotal blast helped the Volunteers comeback to win in that one, 8-4. Tennessee was facing elimination at the time, so it was without a doubt, one of the bigger home runs of his career thus far.

In 2022, Burke exploded onto the scene as he tied the Tennessee freshman home run record after he belted his 14th home run of the season. He earned freshman All-American honors following his impressive debut campaign.

Tennessee currently sits at 24-6 overall and their program has always seemed to be in a very good place the past few years under Tony Vitello. The Volunteers recently won two of their three games against the Georgia Bulldogs, with both of their wins being 16-11 and 7-0. The Vols also won two of three games against the Ole Miss Rebels, with both of their wins being 15-3 and 15-4.

Up next, Tennessee will finish their series with Auburn. The final game will be played on Sunday, April 7th. That one will be played at 2 p.m. EST. Their next three game series will be against LSU. That one will be played from April 12-14.
