On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine: Tennessee trending for Boo Carter
Chattanooga (Tenn.) Brainerd four-star athlete Boo Carter has been one of the top targets on Tennessee’s 2024 recruiting board for the last few months.
The 6-foot, 180-pounder is not only a coveted in-state recruit, but he’s one of the more dynamic two-way players in the country, with offers to play on both offense and defense. The Vols like him on offense, as wide receivers coach Kelsey Pope leads the way in his recruitment. And that pursuit is paying off, according to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM).
After a pair of expert picks in Tennessee’s favor last week, the Volunteers now hold a 94.2 percent chance of securing his commitment. Carter was back in Knoxville over the weekend, and On3 Director of Recruiting Chad Simmons wrote this about why he put in a pick in favor of the Vols:
“[Carter] will be back in Knoxville this weekend. It will be his fourth visit to the in-state school in 2023. He has visited around 10 times in total. His connection with the Tennessee staff is very strong. Not only does Carter know the coaches well, but he has already bonded with players on the team and recruits in this class.
… One source said, “Boo’s bond with Tennessee is just on another level.” That comfortability, Tennessee being close to home, the opportunity he sees to make an impact early and the direction of the program in Knoxville has me confident enough to say the Vols are the favorite to land Carter.”
Along with Tennessee, Ohio State, Michigan and Oregon are expected to get official visits from Carter, he told Simmons.

Current Tennessee commits pushing for Boo Carter as well
In addition to Pope, head coach Josh Heupel, and multiple other coaches on Tennessee’s staff recruiting Carter, one of his best friends and a current Vols commit is too.
Nashville Lipscomb Academy four-star cornerback Kaleb Beasley, a former high school teammate of Carter, told On3 in January that he was pushing hard to bring him into the class.
“I’m completely locked in on Boo and Edwin Spillman,” Beasley said. “It’s taking some time to get both of them to commit, but I know I can get them both eventually.”
The 6-foot, 180-pound Carter is the No. 234 overall prospect in the 2024 class, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He ranks as the country’s No. 13 athlete and the No. 3 recruit in Tennessee.
