Bru McCoy, Dont'e Thornton injury updates: Latest on Tennessee WRs vs. Arkansas
In the second half of Saturday’s game against Arkansas, Tennessee saw multiple wide receivers leave with injuries. Bru McCoy and Dont’e Thornton both headed to the sideline in the third quarter, and updates emerged on both.
ABC’s Holly Rowe reported McCoy was treated for a wrist injury before going back in the game. As for Thornton, he appeared to be nursing a knee injury and his status didn’t look as promising the rest of the way.
“Bru McCoy is back out there,” Rowe said. “They have heavily taped his right wrist, and then they put a glove over the hand and taped two of his fingers together. But he can go in on this play. Dont’e Thornton, though, he keeps holding the top of his right knee. He does not look probable at this time.”
Thornton later returned to the game in the fourth quarter as Tennessee tried to avoid becoming the second Top-5 SEC team to suffer an upset. He entered the night as the Volunteers’ leading receiver and had the longest reception of the night at 42 yards.

McCoy is also a mainstay in the Tennessee wide receiver room. He sat right behind Thornton in receiving yards with 200 entering Saturday’s game, but has yet to find the end zone so far this season.
Tennessee later lost another wide receiver when Squirrel White suffered a scary injury late in the game. He appeared to be favoring his arm on his way to the sideline and never returned.
Arkansas scored the go-ahead touchdown with just over a minute to play, leaving Tennessee time for one final drive. Despite making it to the 22-yard line, the Vols never got into the red zone, meaning the Razorbacks held on for the 19-14 victory to pull off yet another stunner on the Week 6 slate of games. Iamaleava had one last play, but appeared to lose track of the clock and ran out of bounds as time expired.
