Caleb Herring, the No. 1 prospect in Tennessee, commits to the Vols
Josh Heupel signed Elijah Herring in December and the 2022 linebacker out of Riverdale (Tenn.) is already on campus. He will be joined by his younger brother in January 2023.
Four-star EDGE Caleb Herring has committed to Tennessee over the likes of Georgia, Miami, and USC. The No. 63 prospect in the On3 Consensus has visited Knoxville close to 10 times and he feels right at home.
“I am very comfortable at Tennessee,” Herring told On3. “The coaches have made me feel like a priority and they have recruited me in a different way. It is like family at Tennessee.”
The 6-foot-5, 210-pound athlete flirted with a few other schools and he talked about doing his own thing, but it was going to be very hard for any school to pull him away from the Vols. Not only is he excited about joining his brother at Tennessee, but he likes what he is going to be a part of.

“I really like what coach Heupel is building. He is getting Tenessee back to the old ways. The team played well last season, they are getting some good recruits, and I see the team going in the right direction.”
Herring is Tennessee’s 8th commitment for the 2023 class.
He currently has an On3 NIL Valuation of $16.2k. The On3 NIL Valuation is an index that looks to set the standard market value for both high school and college-level athletes. The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.
