ESPN stat reveals Tennessee baseball has led in all but one game
ESPN put into perspective how dominant Tennessee baseball has been this season with an eye-opening stat. According to SEC Network anchor Peter Burns, the Vols have led in all but one of their 60 games this season.
Tennessee currently has a 52-7 record and has lost just one series all season. That loss came at the hands of Kentucky, which was the victor of a 13-inning contest in the series opener. The Volunteers are widely considered the best team in baseball and currently ranked No. 1 in the country according to D1 Baseball.
Tennessee’s 59th lead of the season came Saturday during the SEC Championship game against Florida. After four scoreless innings, the Volunteers got onto the scoreboard with a squeeze bunt that brought in the first run. A couple of at-bats later, Tennessee was able to breakthrough with a bases-clearing double. Drew Gilbert was able to slap one over the head of the Florida left fielder before everyone on base came in to score.
The Volunteers went on to score four runs in the fifth inning to take a commanding advantage. After that, they added three more in the sixth to increase their advantage to 7-0. Seth Stephenson and Luc Lipcius each had doubles in the inning to drive in the runs.

The path to the championship game is clear
Florida fired back with three runs of its own in the eighth inning to close the gap. The game is now in the top of the ninth, with the Volunteers needing just three outs to secure the conference championship. After that, they will await to find out who is in their Region in the NCAA Baseball Tournament, which is set to be announced Monday.
If the stat from above doesn’t indicate how good Tennessee baseball is, then their performance in the NCAA Tournament should open a few more eyes.
