Tony White was a standout college basketball player for Tennessee from 1983-1987, scoring 2,219 career points while playing in 127 games during his time with the Volunteers. Because of the great success he had at UT, White is being inducted into the Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame in July, according to ESPN’s Chris Low.

A Charlotte, North Carolina native, White holds the Tennessee record for most points scored in a single game with 51 against Auburn on Feb. 14, 1987. Additionally, his 2,219 career points rank him third all-time among all Volunteer players.

Following his time at Tennessee, White put together a solid professional career. Selected 33rd overall in the second round of the 1987 NBA Draft by the Chicago Bulls, White went on to play for the Bulls, New York Knicks and Golden State Warriors before taking the oversees route and playing for multiple teams from 1988-2000.

While White was a part of many wins on the basketball court, his biggest win of all has been beating cancer, as Low shared. He was first diagnosed with Leukemia back in 2019.
