This weekend, Tennessee is traveling to Columbia to take on the South Carolina Gamecocks. For wide receiver Jalin Hyatt, a native of South Carolina, this game is going to be a kind of homecoming. Hyatt’s quarterback, Hendon Hooker knows this all too well.

Hendon Hooker was asked about that homecoming and if he thought Jalin Hyatt had any extra motivation for this particular game.

“Yeah, for sure,” Hooker said. “You know, anytime you go home to play, it’s a great feeling.”

“And, J Hyatt plays with a chip on his shoulder week in and week out. His competitive fire is amazing. I just want to match it whenever we’re out there together, and you can see the intensity that he plays with when he catches the ball. He’s playing very physical right now,” Hendon Hooker continued.

Jalin Hyatt had a breakout game against Alabama when he had five of his fifteen touchdown catches on the season. For the year, he already has 1,116 yards with two games remaining.

“Playing very smart and savvy and it’s a cool thing to go home to your hometown and have family and friends there and put on a show. So, I’m excited to see Hyatt do his thing.”

Jalin Hyatt on winning a national championship

The NFL is definitely on the horizon for Tennessee’s star wide receiver Jalin Hyatt. For now, though, he’s focused on winning a national championship.

“Yeah, I’m just going to worry about the season,” Jalin Hyatt said.

“Worrying about what we have to do and how we have to finish out for our goal. But with that situation, it’s something I would have to talk to my family about, coaches about. It’s a lot of things with that process. I will deal with that during the offseason when it comes up. But right now, I’m just focused on this season and these guys up here. I’m focused on getting to our goal, and that’s a national championship.”
