Jalin Hyatt's NFL Draft stock rising, Todd McShay says
Jalin Hyatt performed out of his mind in Tennessee‘s 52-49 upset victory over Alabama last Saturday, and NFL scouts are taking notice.
“Jalin Hyatt from Tennessee is the star of this (underclassmen) group if he becomes more consistent,” NFL Draft insider Todd McShay said on College Football Live. “In the last two weeks, that’s exactly what he’s done, including six catches, 207 yards and five touchdowns in that huge upset win over Alabama. Hyatt is a burner and he’s a guy a lot of NFL scouts are talking about, potentially, in Day 2.”

His five-touchdown performance tied a SEC and school record of touchdown receptions in a single game. Now through seven games, the junior wideout has 33 receptions for 595 yards and 10 scores – the most by a receiver in the SEC so far this season. The next closest is Ole Miss‘ Jonathan Mingo with three.
His numbers this season trump his first two years in Knoxville combined. Catching 41 passes for 502 yards and four touchdowns through his freshman and sophomore campaigns, Hyatt has quickly proved his worth as one of the SEC’s top deep threats.

Hyatt has more time to raise his stock even higher against ranked opponents like Georgia and Kentucky, not to mention the potential SEC Championship matchup (if they can beat the aforementioned teams) against another top-tier opponent. Add in the postseason, and Hyatt will be tested on a near weekly basis against the nation’s top defenders.
If Hyatt can perform on a consistent basis to even a fraction of how he did against the Crimson Tide, he’s sure to be one of the biggest sleeper picks in the 2023 NFL Draft. Whether he can catapult himself into a first rounder remains to be seen.
