Jamison Brockenbrough smacks 2-run home run to chase Alabama's starting pitcher in third inning
The best things seem to be coming in twos for Tennessee so far in Oklahoma City.
First, Katie Taylor and Zaida Puni put the Volunteers up 4-0 against Alabama with a pair of doubles. Then, after the Tide cut that lead to just two at the top of the third, Jamison Brockenbrough banged home a two-run home run to extend the margin back to four for Tennessee.
The Tide had capitalized on some good work by Ally Shipman and Kenleigh Cahalan to cut their deficit in half. That’s why Brockenbrough’s homer was so deflating, especially as it kept the early woes going for Alabama’s Jaala Torrence. Her struggles led Patrick Murphy to go with Alex Salter in order to get out of the inning.
The home run was Brockenbrough’s second of her freshman season.

“(It’s) just joy. That’s the best word I can describe it with. Just sheer joy,” Weekly said. “Joy for these girls who worked so hard. When they do things the right way, as a coach, you just want it so bad for them.”
“Just so much joy for them that they got to move on and they get to come here and do what they do so well, which is just come out and play every day,” said Weekly. “Our last couple practices at home were really good, just like the last few weeks. They just keep getting better every day.”
