2025 On3 top-15 overall prospect Josh Petty sets Tennessee visit
Roswell (Ga.) Fellowship Christian School four-star offensive tackle Josh Petty is visiting Tennessee on May 27. He announced the news over Twitter on Friday.
Petty is the No. 16 overall prospect and No. 2 offensive tackle in the 2025 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 4 player in Georgia.
On3 rates Petty higher than other recruiting services, according to the Industry Comparison. Per the 2025 On300, he is the No. 12 overall prospect in the country and the No. 3 player in Georgia.
The 6-foot-4, 265-pound recruit already holds 20 offers. He last visited the Volunteers on April 14.
“My dad is a big Tennessee fan, so growing up around him, he instilled that in me,” Petty told On3’s Chad Simmons on March 28. “I have been watching Tennessee since I was a kid. I like Tennessee a lot. I loved watching Joshua Dobbs throw the ball when I was a kid. I watched him throw that Hail Mary to beat Georgia and that was exciting. Tennessee’s atmosphere is electric, and I know everyone knows Rocky Top up there.”
Petty has already spoken with assistant offensive line coach Kevin Pendleton. Tennessee is one of five programs to already host him for an unofficial visit.

Petty is one of the top sophomores in the country
Auburn (May 25), South Carolina (April 15), Georgia (April 11) and Georgia Tech (March 29) are the other programs that Petty has visited. All four schools have offered him, along with LSU, Michigan, Notre Dame and Oregon among others.
“On visits, I care about the degree,” Petty said. “I will look a lot at the education. Also, I am definitely looking at the coaching staffs and how they treat their player. I also want to play in front of a great crowd, so the game day is important to me too.”
“I am excited for this,” he added. “I dreamed about being a recruit like this, so getting the offers, taking these visits and starting this process is exciting for me. Coaches see that I am a very athletic and aggressive guy. They said they see me pancaking the defensive linemen, and they like my height and how I am a hard hitter, too.”
