4-star C JP Estrella makes it official with Tennessee
On3 Consensus four-star recruit JP Estrella has made it official, signing his National Letter of Intent to Tennessee on Wednesday.
The 6-foot-11 center from Wolfeboro (NH) Brewster Academy committed to the Volunteers back in September, beating out the likes of Syracuse, Iowa, and others.
Estrella was Rick Barnes second addition to their 2023 four-man recruiting class. He joins On3 Consensus four-star Freddie Dilione and three-stars Cam Carr and Cade Phillips in the class.
Estrella ranks as the No. 36 overall prospect in the 2023 class, according to the On3 Consensus, the average ranking from all four major recruiting media companies.

Why Estrella chose Tennessee
“I chose Tennessee because I have a great relationship with their whole staff,” Estrella said to On3. “Coach (Rick) Barnes and the whole staff have a vision for me, and I can see myself being in that vision. I also think I fit in that program really well, especially with it being a fast-paced league, and I’m a very fast big man.”
Scouting Summary
JP Estrella has good size, and he moves well. Competitive on the block, he understands angles, and has good footwork. The skilled forward can step out and knock down shots off the catch. He is a good area rebounder, and he works hard on the defensive end. He will need to continue adding weight, and he is going to need to work on the lateral quickness. There is a lot to like here as a stretch big with toughness and some pop.
