The Tennessee Volunteers picked up a big win on Saturday against Kentucky. Tennessee’s win snapped a two game losing streak and propelled the Vols to a 5-4 overall record on the year. College GameDay analyst Kirk Herbstreit gave Tennessee some serious praise after the win. Herbstreit thinks that Tennessee’s offense could pose problems for Georgia’s dominant defense.

“Impressive win for (Tennessee football) last night,” Herbstreit tweeted. “Hendon Hooker continues to be very efficient in Josh Heupel’s scheme. Vols are 5-4 (and) have South Alabama and Vandy remaining and this week host UGA! This Vols offense will be a challenge for the dominant Dawgs D! Vols playin with confidence!”

Tennessee and Georgia face off next week

The Vols will host Georgia on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. ET in Knoxville. While Georgia appears near unbeatable, Tennessee poses a unique threat on the offensive side of the ball.

Tennessee quarterback Hendon Hooker, who Herbstreit praised, has been inconsistent at times this season. But he has also shown to be very explosive when he is playing well. On the year, Hooker has completed nearly 70 percent of his passes for 1,894 yards, 21 touchdowns, and two interceptions. He also is second on the team in rushing with 457 yards and four touchdowns on 112 attempts.

Hooker accounted for four touchdowns in Tennessee’s win over Kentucky on Saturday night.

Tennessee has almost 2,000 rushing yards as a team, and seven players have rushed for at least 100 yards on the season. Eight players have a touchdown on the ground. The Vols are averaging 457.6 yards per game, which is fourth in the SEC. They also score 38.2 points per game, which is third best in the conference.

Georgia’s defense, meanwhile, has the best defense in the nation by a wide margin. The Bulldogs allow 230.9 yards per game and 6.6 points per game. Georgia has only allowed double digit points three times this season. Nobody has scored more than 13 points against them this season. If Herbstreit is right, Tennessee could change that next weekend.
