Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin, no stranger to diving into the fray on any number of controversial issues and big news in college football, is once again rooting for another SEC team this weekend. And yes, it is Tennessee.

Kiffin, the Tennessee head coach for one season in 2009, previously wished the Vols good luck this season prior to their massive home showdown with Alabama — which Tennessee, of course, won. Now, he’s jumping back in to offer his well wishes to Rocky Top ahead of their next massive showdown, this one on the road at Georgia.

“Good luck tomorrow,” Kiffin tweeted, tagging Tennessee football. Accompanying the tweet is a picture of a Volvo adorned with a few Vol decals.

While Tennessee fans might not be very ingratiated to Kiffin — they lit fires and rioted when he left for USC in January 2010 and more recently threw mustard bottles and golf balls on to the field when Ole Miss played at Neyland Stadium in 2021.

But Kiffin, coaching a one-loss Ole Miss team that still has a path to the SEC title game — and plays Alabama at home next week after being off this week — clearly has a favorite in another SEC showdown happening on Saturday.

Kiffin offered Tennessee well wishes before their huge win over Alabama

Ahead of the gigantic SEC showdown with the Alabama Crimson Tide heading to Knoxville, the Rebels coach joined the College GameDay crew for an interview. Ever the polarizing figure with the fanbase, Kiffin had a shocking message for Tennessee fans that got a rise out of the crowd.

“I mean, if you think I don’t know Tennessee is playing Alabama, I mean who doesn’t know that?” answered Kiffin, asked if his tunnel-vision on the Auburn Tigers prevented him from being excited about the huge SEC showdown. “You know, I don’t know what to say, except for hey, let’s go beat the state of Alabama today. Go Vols.”
