LOOK: Tennessee basketball hilariously trolls Kentucky fashion sense after big win
Tennessee men’s basketball is winning on the court – and on social media.
After recording a 76-63 win over rival and No. 4 ranked Kentucky on Tuesday night at Thompson-Boling Arena in Knoxville, the wins are continuing to come for the No. 16 Volunteers. Not even a full day removed from the victory on the hardwood, Tennessee’s official Twitter account decided to hilariously troll the Wildcats on Wednesday – making the loss even more hurtful for Kentucky.
While both Tennessee and Kentucky often wear checkered jerseys, both teams decided to wear them for Tuesday’s game. In Wednesday’s tweet posted by the Volunteers’ account, they wanted to make it clear to the Wildcats that they were the first to start wearing the checkered jerseys, making the assumption that Kentucky followed along after. The tweet features a graphic with the heading, “Notice To Cease And Desist,” and includes the following statement:
“Please refrain from utilizing discolored iconography notably associated with the University of Tennessee. See original for reference.”
In addition to the hilarious statement, the graphic includes both Tennessee and Kentucky’s checkered patterns that are featured on their jerseys, along with the final score and a photo from Tuesday’s game. In small, fine print at the bottom, there’s another statement that reads, “Thank you for your attention to this urgent matter.”

Rick Barnes praises Tennessee fans, makes bold statement after Kentucky win
Following Tennessee’s big win over Kentucky, head coach Rick Barnes met with the media for his postgame press conference and praised Volunteer fans for the energy they created during the game – and he also made a bold statement about his program.
“I don’t know if it was the technical foul that did it,” Barnes said when asked if Kentucky coach John Calipari’s technical foul is what brought the crowd to life. “I don’t know any of that. I think our fans were ready from the get-go. Before I ever came out tonight, it was electric out there – and you expect it to be. It’s one of the great rivalries in college basketball. You expect it. I mean, we expect it when we go up there and I know they expect it when they come in here.
“But, even when you’re up – we talked about it at halftime. The last time we won at Rupp Arena, we were down 16 with not much to play with and we come back. We have so much respect for them that, ‘Hey, you’ve gotta keep playing.’ We knew they would make a run at some point in time – they did, and then we answered it. Again, this building – I’m partial, but I think it’s the best. Everyone talks about the ‘blue bloods,’ but the ‘orange bloods’ are right there.”
