Trenton (N.J.) Notre Dame three-star defensive lineman Jayson Jenkins has committed to Tennessee, announcing the news Saturday night on social media.

Jenkins is the No. 1009 overall recruit in the 2022 cycle, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

He is the 111th-best defensive lineman in the class and 19th-best player in the state of New Jersey.

Jenkins joins a Tennessee recruiting class that ranks No. 13 in the On3 Consensus Team Recruiting Ranking.

Greenwood (Ind.) Center Grove four-star quarterback Tayven Jackson has the top On3 NIL Valuation of the group at $60,000. The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.

Charlotte (N.C.) Zebulon B. Vance four-star EDGE James Pearce is the top ranked player in the class, according to On3. Pearce is the No. 11 overall player in the 2022 On300, making him a five-star prospect.

“Tennessee scored a huge recruiting win signing Pearce in December,” On3 National Recruiting Analyst Gerry Hamilton said. “At 6-foot-5, 220 pounds, Pearce possesses excellent bend, initial quickness and agility. An extremely disruptive player with the speed to quickly close on the ball from the backside. Fast twitch arguably has the highest upside off the edge of any prospect in the class after totaling more than 30 sacks his last two years playing more on sheer athletic ability than advanced technique. More than a sack machine, Pearce uses his long arms and reactive quickness to disrupt passing lanes. Applies pressure to a quarterback and offense in a variety of ways.”

Other notable recruits in the class include Tifton (Ga.) Tift County four-star defensive lineman Tyre West, Norcross (Ga.) Greater Atlanta Christian School four-star interior offensive lineman Addison Nichols and Kennesaw (Ga.) North Cobb four-star EDGE Joshua Josephs.
