Oregon State transfer CB Jermod McCoy commits to Tennessee
Former Oregon State cornerback Jermod McCoy has committed to Tennessee, via the NCAA Transfer Portal.
Jermod McCoy only played one season for the Beavers. However, it was a promising freshman season. McCoy saw action in 11 regular season games for Oregon State. He had 31 total tackles, two interceptions, and a fumble recovery in the 2023 campaign.
Jermod McCoy played high school football at Whitehouse (TX), where he was a three-star prospect. He was the No. 1,474 overall recruit in the 2023 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
McCoy was the No. 11 CB available in the transfer portal, according to On3’s Transfer Portal Player Rankings. Along with Tennessee, McCoy picked up offers from many Power Five programs, including Washington, Oregon, Ole Miss and USC.
“They showed me the depth chart. Said they have a lot of guys leaving and I could come here and step up. It would be a good opportunity,” McCoy said of the Tennessee pitch. “I talked to all of them [Josh Heupel, Willie Martinez & Tim Banks]. They were all straight up with me and told me they want me to come in and be the guy.”
