Police stop Tennesssee fans from taking Neyland goalpost with tasers after Alabama upset
Two years ago when Tennessee took down Alabama, the goal posts from Neyland Stadium wound up in the Tennessee River. On Saturday, police inside Neyland Stadium were going to make sure something similar did not take place. While they likely were happy to see the Vols get a win, tasers were pulled out to keep the goal posts safe.
Right after the game ended, there was somebody there to take the goal posts down. They were affiliated with the stadium crew, though. Fans were not behind the process. In a video captured, you can hear police telling people to back up and move away.

While the video from Wallace does not show anybody getting tased, ESPN’s Chris Low said a few people “paid the price” for sticking around for too long. He only sent out a photo, not having a video of anything.
“Storming the field and tearing down the goal posts two years ago vs. Alabama was clearly not enough for Tennessee fans,” Low said via X. “A few that lingered too long Saturday on the field paid the price by getting tased.”
