Tennessee announces passing of Vol alum Bob Neyland Jr, son of legendary Neyland Stadium namesake

According to an announcement by the University of Tennessee, Bob Neyland Jr. has passed away.

Bob Neyland was a Tennessee alum and played on the football team from 1951-53. His father was the legendary General Robert Neyland, who Neyland Stadium is named after today.

General Neyland was the head coach of the Volunteers from 1926-34, 1936-40, and 1946-52. A member of the College Football Hall of Fame, he won four national championships at Tennessee. A West Point graduate, Neyland earned his title of General by reaching the rank of brigadier general in the U.S. Army.

As a player, Bob played for his father and Harvey Robinson. He spent his time as a second-team player. He was also captain of the swim team and earned a law degree before he entered a career in banking.

Bob Neyland was 93 years old.
