Following Tennessee‘s series sweep over Florida in baseball, the Volunteers took a unique chance to troll the Gators’ football team too. After winning the series in a sweep, Tennessee was taken to the Florida campus to shower and prepare for their departure — and used their time inside the Gators’ locker rooms to pose for a photo wearing Florida football helmets.

At least one member of the Gators’ football team took exception to the photo, telling them that they will get revenge for the disrespect.

Tennessee taunts Florida in baseball and football

While Tennessee continued their incredible 2022 baseball season against Florida, they capped off the series by completing a sweep of the Gators in Gainesville. The Volunteers are the first SEC team to sweep Florida on their home field in 16 years. The Volunteers are currently 37-3 overall this year, with a 17-1 record against SEC opponents. They remain the top-ranked team in all of college baseball.

As they dominate college baseball, they have made plenty of enemies along the way this year. The Volunteers have been incredible on the field and are among the most cocky teams in the league. As long as they keep winning however, they continue to back up their trash talk. Before returning home after the series, Tennessee was given accommodations by Florida to let them shower and prepare to leave Gainesville by using the football facilities on campus.

Given access to Florida’s building, the Volunteers shared an image of their players wearing Florida helmets with a caption reading “Vols win” over the photo. While the act is harmless enough, it certainly struck a nerve with Florida fans and at least one football player to see them disrespecting their building and gear.

Chief Borders, a redshirt freshman for the Gators last season, took to Twitter to respond to the photo with a simple and ominous message that they “shall reap what they sow.” Florida football certainly will be looking forward to their shot at Tennessee — a Sep. 24 matchup with Tennessee hosting the Gators. Unfortunately, they may have to get in line if they want revenge against Tennessee baseball as they continue to rack up wins and enemies both.
