LOOK: Tennessee baseball trolls Ole Miss, Lane Kiffin following series sweep
Lane Kiffin got the viral social media moment he was looking for but it was the Tennessee baseball team that got the last laugh on Sunday. The No. 5-ranked Volunteers swept the No. 1 Ole Miss Rebels in a three-game series on the road in Oxford at Swayze Field.
Kiffin threw out the first pitch on Friday night and used it as an opportunity to call back to the golf balls and mustard incident during the football season. He tossed out a golf ball instead of a baseball. Ole Miss tweeted out the video of the first pitch as an added layer of trolling.
After losing 12-1 and 10-3 in the first two games, Ole Miss RHP Dylan DeLucia claimed that the Rebels didn’t take the Vols seriously enough and guaranteed a win on Sunday.
“We took them lightly,” DeLucia said. “It won’t happen again. We will win tomorrow. I’ll tell you that. It’s one of those things where they play in a small field. We have a bigger field, so we thought we could throw it into them. It didn’t work out. We missed some spots and that’s why they ended up hitting the homers. Tomorrow will be a lot better.”

Tennessee responded after their 4-3 final victory with a graphic that played on DeLucia’s ill-advised comments.
“Oh, you underestimated us?” the graphic reads, with a Michael Scott/Office reference. “Maybe next time you’ll estimate us.
“What we guarantee: No excuses. Time for a response (even on Sundays). Guarantees are guaranteed.”
Earlier in the series, Vols players also used mustard as a prop after hitting a home run against Ole Miss. Tennessee is now 22-1 on the season and 5-0 in SEC play.
