Tennessee defensive back Doneiko Slaughter plans to enter the NCAA Transfer Portal, according to Matt Zenitz. Slaughter will have one year of eligibility remaining.

Slaughter played in 48 games during four years in Knoxville, becoming a consistent defensive contributor across the past two seasons. In the last two seasons, he has 63 tackles and an interception while appearing in 22 games.

Slaughter played high school football at Roswell (Ga.) High School, where he was a three-star prospect. He was the No. 513 overall recruit in the 2020 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

With his portal entry, Slaughter is the second notable Tennessee defender to opt to try the transfer market on Friday. Earlier in the day, edge rusher Tyler Baron entered the transfer portal to see his options elsewhere. Whether or not those two departures turn into a bigger exodus on defense, or across the roster, will be key for Tennessee as the Vols try to build for 2024.
