WATCH: Tennessee drops hype video, previews renovations to Neyland Stadium
With just one hundred days out from the start of the 2022 college football season, Tennessee football dropped an update in the form of a hype video on where Neyland Stadium is in terms of its renovation process.
“This place, it’s unbelievable,” redshirt senior tight end Jacob Warren said. “I still get goosebumps every time I step on that field. Now, we’ve not gathered here in quite some time. But that’s because we’re building; building a better atmosphere in the greatest home of college football.”
Neyland Stadium has been under construction since the day after the Volunteers final home game of the 2021 season and is set to be remodeled with a party deck, sports bar, as well as a new video board thanks to a $180 million renovation package.
“While Neyland is going through a bit of work right now, in just a hundred days, it’ll be back,” Warren said. “Back with the most passionate fans in college football. Back with the same energy that we have all come to love from this stadium, and back for you to come support us day in and day out.
“This place is for you, and in one hundred days, we can’t wait to have you back.”
This offseason isn’t the first time Neyland Stadium has undergone renovations recently, as the stadium was upgraded with a state of the art LED lighting system that showed off some awe-inspiring lighting displays before Volunteer home games. Firework machines were equipped on the roof of the north end zone as well as west and east skybox rooftops to “provided more emphatic celebrations for Tennessee touchdowns and victory.”

The renovations are the reason Tennessee did not have a spring game this offseason. In the spring game’s place, and intra-squad scrimmage took place on April 9th, which was only open to media, recruits and players’ family members — meaning the scrimmage was off limits to the public.
Once the renovations are complete, which is set to finish before the beginning of the regular season, Tennessee fans will be able to view their beloved Vols in one of the most luxurious stadiums in the country during a season with massive expectations.
“Come to think of it, it reminds me of out team. Let me take you back,” Warren said. “A first-year head coach, a new staff and system, uncertainty of what to expect. But coach [Josh] Heupel built this program back up. He built it into one of the best offenses in the country, the defense the wreaked havoc on opposing quarterbacks and he built a culture that defines everything we do.”
