Tennessee releases hype video ahead of Week 2 game vs. Austin Peay
Week 2 is here for Tennessee following an impressive showing in the opener. Joe Milton continues to look the part at quarterback, and he’ll look to build off his solid performance against Austin Peay on Saturday.
The Vols released their hype video for the game, and they’re ready to “put on a show” once again.
With “Nakamura” by Lil Uzi Vert in the background, the video is sure to fire up Tennessee fans following last week’s 49-13 victory over Virginia. It’s another tune-up for the Volunteers, who are gearing up to head to Florida next week for a big SEC showdown.
Tennessee’s high-powered offense rolled against Virginia last week. Milton threw for 201 yards and two touchdowns on 21 of 30 passing while Dylan Sampson led the running game with three touchdowns. Jaylen Wright led all rushers with 115 yards on 12 carries.
Vols fans also got their first look at star freshman Nico Iamaleava, who threw for 11 yards on 2 of 3 passing. But it’s Milton’s show at quarterback, and he’ll continue to be a hot topic of conversation as the season goes on.
Josh Heupel raved about the young quarterback’s debut and said Iamaleava continues to impress the staff as he settles in to the college game.

“Same things that we’ve seen. Really calm, cool. Good demeanor. Able to communicate, handle all the pre-snap stuff the right way, get his eyes in the right place. I thought [he] showed some athleticism. I love the feel in the pocket, being able to step up and get out of it and go make a play with his feet,” Heupel said. “He’s athletic enough to be used in the run game and escape the pocket.”
Josh Heupel: Tennessee has to be ‘consistent’ in preparation for Week 2 vs. Austin Peay
Heupel sounded happy with where his team was, mentally, following the big victory. But the key will be to improve after such a strong showing, which is why it’s going to be about battling for all four quarters.
“It all starts with the guy in the mirror, and then ultimately everybody inside of that team room. Preparation’s been really good. It’s been sound. Today was good,” Heupel said on Thursday. “Continued to win the preparation battle here as we get ready for kickoff. You’ve got to be consistent in your preparation and your competitive nature when you walk out on that field. First ballgame inside of Neyland, I expect our guys to be excited and to be ready to go compete for 60 minutes.
“In all three phases, this early in the year, there are so many things that we needed to grow from last week. And I think our guys have intentional in that.”
