Verona (Wisc.) Area three-star cornerback Tre Poteat has committed to Tennessee, he tells On3’s Hayes Fawcett.

He chose the Volunteers over Michigan, Wisconsin and Iowa State.

Poteat is the No. 584 overall prospect and No. 60 corner in the 2025 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He’s also the No. 4 player in Wisconsin.

“I see that with the resources they have can make me the best player I can be and really reach my max potential,” Poteat told On3’s Steve Wiltfong of his decision.

Poteat was back on Rocky Top over the weekend for his official visit. The Vols also had him on campus in April and have now landed a commitment for the third time in the last four days.

“My favorite things about the Vols is that the coaches keep everything real. They never sugarcoated anything and just kept it honest,” Poteat said. “The fan support, there’s something different over in Knoxville.”

Tennessee continues June hot streak

With Poteat now in the mix, Tennessee has 15 commits in its 2025 class overall. Five of those pledges have come this month, as the class checks in at No. 12 in the nation, according to the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings.

On Monday, Las Vegas Bishop Gorman four-star interior offensive lineman Douglas Utu announced his commitment coming off his OV to Knoxville. The 6-foot-4, 315-pounder is the No. 53 overall prospect and No. 3 IOL in the 2025 cycle.

Utu is the second highest-ranked commit in UT’s class, behind Nashville Brentwood five-star quarterback George MacIntyre. The top-ranked player in Tennessee and No. 4 QB in the nation, MacIntyre committed on Jan. 22.

The Vols added three-star defensive lineman Charles House on June 22. House is a four-star prospect ranked No. 284 overall in the 2025 On300. Four-star EDGE Jayden Loftin and four-star in-state IOL Nic Moore also joined the class in June.

Memphis Sheffield four-star wide receiver Radarious Jackson joined the class in April, as he chose the in-state school over Auburn, Ole Miss and Mississippi State. He is On3’s No. 79 overall prospect and No. 12 WR in the cycle. On March 28, Nashville Ensworth four-star defensive lineman Ethan Utley joined the fold as the second highest-ranked pledge, choosing the Vols over Michigan, Texas and others.
