Tennessee offers 4-star defensive lineman Devan Houstan
Tennessee has joined the mix for Hagerstown (Md.) St. James School four-star defensive lineman Devan Houstan.
Houstan is the No. 242 overall recruit in the 2023 cycle, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
The Volunteers are the fifth school to offer Houstan this year after Washington, Northwestern, Rutgers and Duke. Houstan also has offers from Maryland, Michigan State, Notre Dame, Penn State and Virginia, among others.
The Volunteers have two commits in the 2023 cycle in Suwanee (Ga.) Collins Hill four-star tight end Ethan Davis and Dacula (Ga.) Hebron Christian Academy safety Jack Luttrell.

Davis is a top-100 recruit in the nation. He committed to Tennessee in December, and told On3’s Jeremy Johnson that the relationship between himself and the staff was a main reason.
“Me, coach (Alex) Golesh and coach (Josh) Heupel have been talking a lot recently,” Davis said. “Coach Golesh has been down to the school three times in the last two weeks. A couple of weeks before that he was down here again. He’s been really on me and recruiting me and it’s not just been at the end. He’s been on me from the jump. They’ve been calling me every week and building that relationship. I feel like I’ll be able to thrive at Tennessee.”
The Volunteers have the No. 18 recruiting class in the 2022 On3 Consensus Team Recruiting Ranking. Tifton (Ga.) Tift County four-star defensive lineman Tyre West is the top recruit in the group.
