Kahuku (Hi.) four-star linebacker and Texas commit Liona Lefau received an offer from Tennessee on Thursday. He announced the news on social media.

Lefau, who committed to the Longhorns on June 25, is the No. 356 overall prospect and No. 29 linebacker in the 2023 cycle, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 2 player in Hawaii.

The 6-foot-1, 211 pound prospect has received 24 offers. The Volunteers are his first offer from an SEC program.

Tennessee’s 2023 recruiting class currently has commitments from two linebackers in Loganville (Ga.) Grayson three-star Jalen Smith and Gainesville (Ga.) three-star Jeremiah Telander. Meanwhile, Lefau is the second linebacker in Texas’ 2023 class alongside Fort Worth (Texas) North Crowley four-star S’Maje Burrell.

“Texas provides me the opportunity to do something that isn’t common, which is being a Polynesian linebacker playing at Texas,” Lefau told Justin Wells of InsideTexas. “I also like the opportunity to be able to play in the SEC if I was to play for Texas.”

Lefau has an On3 NIL Valuation of $40K. The On3 NIL Valuation is an index that looks to set the standard market value for both high school and college-level athletes. The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.
