According to a Tuesday report, Tennessee quarterback Hendon Hooker has already met with multiple NFL teams interested in drafting him. Hooker is set to make the leap to the professional ranks, and despite suffering a torn ACL last year he seems to be a hot prospect around the league ahead of the 2023 NFL Draft.

The short list of teams looking at Hooker as a potential draft pick: The Las Vegas Raiders, Carolina Panthers, New York Giants, New Orleans Saints, and Dallas Cowboys.

Hendon Hooker has met with multiple NFL teams

“Tennessee QB Hendon Hooker has met extensively with the Raiders, Panthers, Giants, Saints, and Cowboys during the pre-draft process,” explained college football analyst Ryan Fowler. “The dual-threat talent is expected be healthy and ready for training camp after suffering a torn ACL in Nov.”

It’s not surprising that the NFL has interest in a physically gifted player like Hooker, especially with the need for franchise quarterbacks every year as teams look to build their rosters. However, it is somewhat surprising to hear which teams have reached out to Hooker — especially teams like the Giants and Cowboys.

The Giants are facing an uncertain future at their quarterback future with Daniel Jones reportedly seeking top-level money for his new contract. Although the short term appears to okay for New York, it’s extremely likely a quarterback drafted could be a safety net if the team can’t agree on a deal that’s favorable to them with Jones.

The Cowboys are much more of a surprise destination, especially with the long-term success the team has found with Dak Prescott at the helm. There’s no question that the goal in Dallas is a Super Bowl, and the inability for the team to come close to a title has led fans to believe the clock is running out on their current roster and coaching staff.

Hooker could be a pick to give Dallas flexibility when Prescott’s current deal expires, allowing the Cowboys to have a young and exciting option to build around if keeping Prescott doesn’t work out.
