Some early odds and points spreads were released for two Tennessee football games during the 2023 season, per FanDuel.

The Volunteers ascended to No. 1 overall in the College Football Playoff rankings at one point during last season. However, Tennessee fell short of the SEC title game with a loss to Georgia, and eventually South Carolina. But the team rebounded for an Orange Bowl victory despite losing quarterback Hendon Hooker.

Joe Milton is the projected starter under center in 2023, which should give Josh Heupel’s crew a lethal offense once again.

Below are some of the early odds released for Tennessee’s games against SEC foes in the fall.

Tennessee opened as a seven point favorite on the road against Florida Sept. 16. The Gators go into Year 2 under Billy Napier and while the team showed flashes, Tennessee appeared to be superior going into the offseason before and after roster turnover.

Anthony Richardson is off to the NFL and the Florida quarterback battle is likely to come down between former Ohio State signal caller Jack Miller or Wisconsin transfer Graham Mertz. Mertz has plenty of starting experience from his time with the Badgers.

But either way, the Volunteers have the advantage in this one solely based on the quarterback position.

Tennessee is also a seven point underdog at home against Georgia Nov. 18. The two-time defending national champions should be tough to beat once again.

Based on the touchdown spread in this game, the Volunteers will be up against it, even on their home turf. The game was No. 1 versus No. 2 last year (via AP rankings) won by Georgia. But expect Kirby Smart and the Bulldogs to be a tough out once again.

Based on the spread in February, this would be quite the upset win for Tennessee.
