With the season opener against Virginia just days away, Tennessee has released its depth chart for Week 1 of the 2023 season.

Of course, there are some obvious starters, such as Joe Milton at quarterback and Bru McCoy at receiver. But there are some other position battles that were sorted out during preseason camp.

It also appears as though some battles won’t be finalized until later in the season as co-starters are listed at multiple positions.

Here is the full depth chart:

The Tennessee offense will have a tough task trying to replicate what Hendon Hooker and company did in 2022. However, there’s clearly enough talent for the Vols to have a big season.

Milton has plenty of weapons, both at receiver and running back.

The Tennessee defense held the Vols back at times last year, but there is hope that the unit will be much improved in 2023. If that is the case, Tennessee could compete for the SEC East crown.

The Vols return some key pieces like Omari Thomas and leading tackler Aaron Beasley. But they also have unproven guys that will be relied on at certain positions, too.

Charles Campbell transferred in from Indiana and is set to take over the kicking duties. Tennessee will also have a new punter for the 2023 season.

As for returners, the Vols have plenty of options as the roster is filled with players who are electrifying with the ball in their hands.

The Tennessee depth chart is out and football season is finally here.
