Tennessee Volunteers capture the SEC regular season title
The Tennessee Volunteers baseball team is on top of the SEC yet again. The Volunteers still have five more games left on their schedule, four of them in conference, and have already captured a share of the 2022 SEC regular-season championship.
The Volunteers have been dominant from the very start of the season and are the top team in the nation. Tennessee has the nation’s best record at 45-6 with a conference record of 22-4. And this level of excellence has been shown in two critical areas on the diamond. The Volunteers are top 20 in batting average, batting .307 and tied for sixth, averaging 9.1 points per game. But where the Volunteers set themselves apart from the rest of the college baseball world is their ERA. Tennessee’s ERA is at 2.26 and has allowed the fewest runs in the country, 113 earned runs, 130 total.
Suppose the Volunteers can continue this level of dominance with their pitching and scoring, they could very well be on their way to a College World Series championship.
