LOOK: Tennessee releases hilarious Jordan Beck shirt after win at Vanderbilt
The No. 1-ranked Tennessee Volunteers certainly looked the part of the nation’s top team on Friday night, as Tony Vitello’s team, led by Jordan Beck, took to Nashville and beat the No. 9 Vanderbilt Commodores by a 6-2 final.
In a winning effort, Beck was frequently a topic of conversation on Friday night, particularly for his nullified home run following a controversial bat inspection. But Beck was the subject of a separate viral moment, when Vitello gave an all-time on-field interview during the game, cracking jokes at the expense of his outfielder.
“I don’t even know that Jordan Beck should be at the University of Tennessee,” Vitello joked on the ESPN2 broadcast. “He forged his transcript. He’s actually a 35-year-old man named Mike Honcho. So, he just shows up to practice every day and he’s a good kid so we let him.”
And now, thanks to some creativity from the Tennessee bookstore, you can buy Honcho/Beck gear.
Beck then acknowledged the joke in a subsequent tweet, going so far as to change his Twitter display name to “Jordan Beck or Mike Honcho.”

LOOK: Lane Kiffin chimes in on Tennessee bat debacle, trolls Volunteers
The Tennessee Volunteers are off to a great start to this baseball season with a 25-1 overall record and a perfect 7-0 clip against SEC opponents. On Friday, Tennessee kicked off a three-game weekend series against the Vanderbilt Commodores. The Volunteers were able to walk away with the series-opening victory Friday night, but it wasn’t without a home run being controversially being called out and overturned due to an illegal bat. That led to a classic troll job from Ole Miss football head coach Lane Kiffin on Tennessee.
Following the controversial ruling, Tennessee head coach Tony Vitello had a heated exchange with the four umpires on the field. Kiffin quote tweeted the video of that exchange, poking additional fun at Tennessee.
Kiffin posted a GIF of mustard, which goes all the way back to this past season’s football matchup between Tennessee and Ole Miss. In that game, Volunteers fans threw trash and other objects towards the Ole Miss sideline, and Kiffin was even struck with a golf ball. Among the objects thrown onto the field was a bottle of mustard, which led to Kiffin’s hilarious troll this weekend.
