Tennessee‘s fanbase is one of the most rowdiest in the nation, coupled with the unrivaled atmosphere the new-and-improved Neyland Stadium will bring Vol fans in 2022 – and even head coach Josh Heupel is giddy in anticipation for the season opener this Thursday against Ball State.

“A year ago, I had no idea. I talked about the experience of it. To be honest, I had heard so much about it I thought maybe it would be really hard for it to like up to that,” Heupel said. “The Vol Walk in particular superseded my expectations. I am excited to get off the bus with these guys and go down Vol Walk and enter Gate 21 and get ready to go compete.

“It will be a great atmosphere. Electric. Since our students have come back, you can feel the energy and the buzz around here in particular, too. Our guys, you think all the way back to January, that is a long process. I am excited to run out with these guys and go play.”

That signature Vol atmosphere got a tune up over the offseason to enhance fan experience at home games. The Vols’ stadium has been remodeled with a party deck, sports bar, as well as a new video board thanks to a $180 million renovation package.

The new-and-improved Neyland Stadium experience will be a treat for fans, Heupel, his team and everyone in between to experience throughout the much anticipated upcoming 2022 season.

“Really excited to see Vol Nation, our student body A huge amount of ticket requests by them. Excited to feel their energy inside of Neyland Stadium, the Vol Walk,” Heupel said. “I know our guys are extremely excited about that too. Go back to the process, all the way back to I think it was January 24th when we got back here, a ton of work has gone into it. Excited to go play and compete with these guys and our fans that are in the stadium as well.”
