For the second time this season, Tennessee has been named the SEC champions. After having an outstanding regular season, the Volunteers entered the conference tournament as the No. 1 seed and overwhelming favorites to win it all.

To celebrate the event, the official Tennessee Volunteers Baseball Twitter account celebrated the accomplishment. They put out a graphic, featuring players on the team. The caption for the tweet was simple, a trophy emoji.

A fitting graphic for how dominant the Volunteers have been all season.

Tennessee was able to deliver, getting a win against Florida on Sunday afternoon. All it took was four wins, not dropping any during their visit to Hoover. All were in convincing fashion as well, with three runs being the smallest margin of victory.

Offensively, not many were better than the Volunteers while in Hoover. They averaged nearly nine runs per game and even hit double digits against both Kentucky and Vanderbilt. Not surprisingly, their pitching was also incredible throughout the four-game run. Florida got the most past Tennessee, getting five runs.

LSU was the fourth opponent, who Tennessee beat 5-3 in an electric atmosphere at the Hoover Metropolitan Complex.

Tennessee athletics makes history

The Tennessee Volunteers baseball team has been on a mission all season long, destroying anything and everything in their path. On Sunday evening, they brought home the 2022 SEC Tournament Championship after defeating the Florida Gators–8-5. The Vols were heavy favorites to win the championship and they got it done.

It was a great day for Tennessee athletics, as the Volunteers became the first school in SEC history to win the women’s soccer, men’s basketball, and baseball tournament championships all in the same calendar year.

It’s a pretty impressive accomplishment and something Tennessee athletics should be proud of. In women’s soccer, the Volunteers defeated Arkansas on Nov. 7, 2021, to bring home the SEC Tournament crown. Redshirt sophomore Jaida Thomas and senior Wrenne French both had goals in the victory.

Tennessee basketball had an excellent season and they won their first SEC tournament crown in 43 years. The Vols defeated Texas A&M 65-50 and got stellar performances by a trio of scorers. Sharpshooter Santiago Vescovi poured in 17 points, Josiah-Jordan James stuffed the stat sheet with 16 points, and Kennedy Chandler also poured in 14 points for Tennessee in the bringing home the SEC tournament championship.

While both of those teams had excellent seasons–the most unquestionably dominant of all three has been Tennessee baseball, which is on a path to cement itself as one of the greatest teams in the sports’ history. The Vols cruised to the SEC Tournament Championship after defeating Florida 8-5 on Sunday evening. Tennessee has posted an incredible record of 53-7 thus far during the 2021-2022 baseball season. They won their first SEC Tournament crown since 1995. Many people expect them to end up in the College World Series Championship Game and win that, too.
