History has repeated itself in Knoxville as Tennessee fans express their dissatisfaction with officials in their sporting events. At first, it was on the football field but now, it’s carried over to the baseball diamond.

During the first game of the Knoxville Super Regional against Notre Dame, centerfielder Drew Gilbert was ejected after arguing balls and strikes. Of course, Volunteer fans were not happy with the decision and decided to make their voices heard. Debris began to fly onto the field, with an old fan favorite, a mustard bottle, making a return appearance.

Only thing missing is a golf ball coming from the outfield.

The mustard bottle first made an appearance at Neyland Stadium during a matchup against the Ole Miss Rebels. Former head coach Lane Kiffin was in town and emotions were high after referees made a call against Tennessee late in the fourth quarter.

Social media was instant to react to the moment but none funnier than Lane Kiffin.

As if he could go anywhere else, Kiffin took to Twitter to comment on the mustard bottle being thrown in Lindsey Nelson Stadium. He noticed something was missing, though, citing the golf ball that was thrown at him at Neyland Stadium.

“Mustard bottle thrown on field after Tennessee’s Drew Gilbert ejected,” Kiffin said. “@Vol_Football⁩ where is the golf ball?? ⁦@Vol_Sports

Tennessee baseball has trolled Kiffin with the mustard bottle already this season. After hitting a home run against Ole Miss, they used the condiment to celebrate after Kiffin threw out the first pitch that night. He threw out the ceremonial first pitch that night as well, using a golf ball instead of a baseball.

Both sides have been able to joke about the original incident on social media, showing there are no hard feelings.
