The Tennessee Volunteers have become one of college football’s best in the jersey game from the black out uniforms on Halloween to the fan-favorite smoke grey, but they are ready to unveil the next great combo ahead of Saturday’s game against South Carolina. The No. 5 team in the country will take the field wearing white jerseys, white pants – as they often do – but will add an orange helmet to their arsenal.

In 2022, Tennessee fans have had much more than uniform combinations to cheer for, with one of the most electrifying offenses in college football headlined by Heisman Trophy candidate Hendon Hooker at quarterback. After rising to No. 1 in the CFP rankings earlier this season, the Volunteers are looking to close out the regular season with two more SEC East wins before playing the waiting game as others play in conference championship games ahead of the selection show in December.

When the College Football Playoff Selection Committee convenes to discuss the potential candidates, the eye test often comes up. While it will not impact their decision, the new look will certainly pass the eye test of the fanbase when they come on television this weekend.

Tennessee is scheduled to kick off its road game against South Carolina at 7 pm ET on Saturday, with the game slated for ESPN.

Update on Cedric Tillman’s status

Tennessee head coach Josh Heupel shared a key update on star wide receiver Cedric Tillman on Monday after the senior sat out the team’s 66-24 romping over Missouri on Saturday. Heupel initially said he and the staff believed it was “probably best” for the wide receiver to sit the Week 11 game out, however, he looks on track to return for the South Carolina game.

“Obviously, it’s just Monday for us, but as the week unfolds, believe he’ll be able to play in this one,” Heupel said. “We’ll always evaluate it in the back-half of the week.”

Tillman dressed for pregame warmups and went through the Senior Day ceremony before the game in full pads. However, he later put on street clothes to watch the win from the Tennessee sideline.
