Tennessee WR Nate Spillman plans to enter NCAA Transfer Portal

Tennessee is losing another wide receiver to the NCAA Transfer Portal. Vols redshirt freshman Nate Spillman is planning to enter the portal, according to On3’s Hayes Fawcett.

Spillman did not appear in a game in 2023, before appearing in four games in 2024. He did not record any stats.

Nate Spillman was ranked as a three-star recruit and the No. 203 receiver in the country in the class of 2023, per the On3 Industry Rankings. The Nashville native attended Lipscomb Academy High School prior to signing with Tennessee.

As a senior there, he helped the Mustangs to a perfect 13-0 record. He caught 22 passes for 348 yards and five touchdowns as a junior.

The news about Nate Spillman planning to enter the portal came after it was revealed that Nathan Leacock was planning to enter the portal earlier in the day.

Leacock appeared in five games for the Vols this season. He finished the year with one catch for 13 yards.

Leacock is a former four-star recruit who signed with Tennessee after being ranked as the No. 12 wide receiver and No. 75 overall player in the country in the class of 2023, per the On3 Industry Rankings.

He originally chose Tennessee over offers from NC State, North Carolina and others. Prior to signing with Tennessee, Leacock attended Millbrook High School in Raleigh, North Carolina. As a senior in high school, Leacock caught 82 passes for 1,703 receiving yards and 23 touchdowns.

It will be interesting to see where Leacock ends up this time around. As for Tennessee, the Vols are playing at Ohio State in the first round of the College Football Playoff on Dec. 21.
