Las Vegas Bishop Gorman four-star interior offensive lineman Douglas Utu has committed to Tennessee, he announced on Monday morning.

He chose the Volunteers over Nebraska, Michigan, Alabama and Washington, among others. Utu took an official visit to Knoxville over the weekend.

The 6-foot-4, 315-pounder is the No. 53 overall prospect and No. 3 IOL in the 2025 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He’s also the No. 2 player in Nevada.

Coming out of the OV, Utu told Volquest that Tennessee was on top in his recruitment. That feeling led one of the top prospects out West to pull the trigger on his pledge to Josh Heupel and Co..

“It was really just spending time with Coach (Glen) Elarbee,” Utu said of what stood out about the trip to Volquest. “He was with me the entire trip, and it was just good to get to know him more and more.”

Vols charging for top-10 recruiting class

With Utu now in the fold, Tennessee’s 2025 recruiting class features 14 total commitments and now ranks No. 12 in the nation, according to the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings.

Tennessee continues its big June on the recruiting trail. The Vols added three-star defensive lineman Charles House on June 22. House is a four-star prospect ranked No. 284 overall in the 2025 On300. Four-star EDGE Jayden Loftin and four-star in-state IOL Nic Moore also joined the class in June.

When looking at Tennessee’s 2025 class, all eyes point toward Nashville Brentwood five-star quarterback George MacIntyre. The No. 4 QB and No. 1 player in Tennessee in the cycle, he will likely headline the Vols’ class for the entirety of the year.

“I’m ready to give my all to Tennessee and rep the home team every Saturday,” MacIntyre told On3 upon his commitment.

Southlake (Texas) Carroll four-star tight end Jack Van Dorselaer is a top-300 recruit in the On3 Industry Ranking, while Buford (Ga.) three-star running back Justin Baker is a top-50 player at his position.

Memphis Sheffield four-star wide receiver Radarious Jackson joined the class in April, as he chose the in-state school over Auburn, Ole Miss and Mississippi State. He is On3’s No. 79 overall prospect and No. 12 WR in the cycle.

On March 28, Nashville Ensworth four-star defensive lineman Ethan Utley joined the fold as the second highest-ranked pledge, choosing the Vols over Michigan, Texas and others. He became the third commit on the defensive side of the ball, flanking Alpharetta (Ga.) Milton three-star cornerback Dylan Lewis and Milton (Ga.) three-star CB Tyler Redmond.
