Viral dancing Vols fan calls out Josh Heupel, Tennessee offense
On Saturday, a young Tennessee fan named Cayson Cagle provided Volunteers fans with extra entertainment. During Tennessee’s 23-17 win over Florida, Cagle repeatedly appeared on the JumboTron, never failing to bust a move.
With each appearance, the crowd would roar with laughter while Cagle showed off his best moves. Tennessee fans even booed other people on the JumboTron, demanding the camera operators turn their attention back toward Cagle.
Cagle’s dance moves spread like wildfire over the internet, racking up millions of views in less than 24 hours. While the 13-year-old sensation enjoyed his time at the game, he has a few tips for Tennessee head coach Josh Heupel.
“We didn’t play great. Offense wasn’t good. We got lucky,” Cagle said during an appearance on Joe and Nancy on WIVK. “[He should] tell his offensive coordinator to open up the playbook.
“I’m sorry, Josh. It’s just up the middle, back-to-back and then try to take a shot and if it’s incomplete, at this point, it’s a three-and-out. So we need to open up the playbook and the defense ain’t playing at its best either.”
As much as fans enjoyed watching Cagle groove to the music in Neyland Stadium on Saturday night, they weren’t always happy with the product on the field. The 23-17 win was too close for comfort, requiring overtime for the Volunteers to escape with the victory.

In the win, Tennessee quarterback Nico Iamaleava only completed 16-of-his-29 pass attempts for 169 yards. He failed to record a touchdown but did throw an interception. It was one of two turnovers for the Volunteers, who tallied 49 fewer offensive yards than Florida despite securing the win.
The performance was far from reassuring for Volunteers fans, who watched their team suffer a 19-14 loss to Arkansas in Week 6. Tennessee doesn’t have long to solve its issues. On Saturday, the Volunteers will square off against No. 7 Alabama at 3:30 p.m. ET.
Heupel knows his team must have an excellent week if they want to take down the Crimson Tide.
“Another huge contest here for us,” Heupel said. “Rivalry game and college football is as good as it gets here with these two teams playing. So looking forward to seeing our fans out on Saturday. And needing a great week of practice preparation for a really good football team that we’re playing.
“Big and strong up front and second level can run and third level is extremely athletic. So a huge task for us. We got to continue to get better and get ready to go play really good football.”
