2024 Top-50 DL Kamarion Franklin to make spring visit to Texas A&M
It was Christmas Eve when 2024 Lake Cormorant (Miss.) four-star defensive lineman Kamarion Franklin announced his top-10 schools.
His list was Texas A&M, Tennessee, Miami, Mississippi State, Alabama, Ole Miss, Texas, South Carolina, Florida State and Michigan.
The months of March and April will see Franklin visit a number of these schools. One of his visits will be to Texas A&M on April 1. The first day of the month will be the first scrimmage of the spring, so Franklin will see some action.
The visit will be the 6-foot-5, 260-pound defender’s fourth to College Station, making Texas A&M a major contender in this recruitment. It is likely this visit will not his last, either.

Franklin is the No. 38 overall prospect and No. 6 defensive lineman in the 2024 cycle, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 1 player in Mississippi.
According to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine, it is a very close race for Franklin’s commitment. Right now, the Rebels (23.2%), Volunteers (20.3%), Aggies (17.4%), and Crimson Tide (10.9) are out front.
To date, Texas A&M holds four commitments in the class of 2024, two of them coming from Texas. The four commitments are four-star Hattiesburg (Miss.) Oak Grove quarterback Anthony Maddox, four-star Longview (Texas) Pine Tree defensive lineman Dealyn Evans, four-star Katy (Texas) Tompkins offensive lineman Ashton Funk, and four-star Alpharetta (Ga.) Milton wide receiver Debron Gatling.
On3 Scouting Summary on Franklin
“Edge defender that projects to DT who wreaks havoc on opposing offenses with his get off and brute strength. Ran an electronically-timed 5.28 40 and jumped a 25” vertical in the spring prior to his junior season. A two-sport athlete who also plays basketball. Disruptive off the edge and lives in the backfield. Totaled 11 sacks as a junior. Instinctive and heady player for a sophomore. Has some hip stiffness but makes up for it with foot speed and play recognition.”
What On3 says about the Aggie target’s personal life
“Kamarion Franklin had an unforgettable junior season at Lake Cormorant (Mississippi) High School. During Franklin’s record-breaking junior season with the Gators, he had 73 tackles, 22 tackles for loss and a school-record 17 sacks. He also had 48 quarterback pressures and 27 quarterback hits. He earned Commercial Appeal football first-team all-metro honors and about every other recognition you could think of throughout the state. Franklin also plays basketball for Lake Cormorant, where he’s averaged around 6.3 points through his first two seasons on the varsity basketball roster. Away from football, Franklin enjoys cooking, and his favorite foods are chicken tenders, steak and Lifesavers. He plans on majoring in mathematics in college. His parents are Tammy Parker Nolen and Larry Franklin.”
