Katy (Texas) Paetow 2025 four-star cornerback Deyjhon Pettaway has committed to the Texas A&M Aggies, he announced via social media.

Pettaway is the nation’s No. 149 overall prospect and No. 21 cornerback in the 2025 cycle according to the On3 Industry Ranking — a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 24 recruit in Texas.

Pettaway visited Texas A&M earlier this month and met with the new staff in College Station.

“They all have a plan for what’s next for Texas A&M and I believe it’s a really good one,” Pettaway told On3 after the visit.

“They poured so much knowledge into me and told me where could A&M be at and where it’s at right now,” Pettaway continued. “They know what needs to be done in order to proceed with those plans.”

The Aggies’ coaching staff views Pettaway as a huge piece in their plans on the back end of the defense. Mike Elko was already very familiar with the DB’s body of work at Paetow High School.

“Coach Elko said I am by far and away the best DB they have watched in a while,” Pettaway started. “He also told me that I can make an immediate impact in their program and I can lead A&M to something big in the future.”

Elko’s message hasn’t been lost on one of the state’s top 2025 recruits.

What the new Aggies’ head coach accomplished at his previous stop at Duke is well-known. Pettaway believes he has a plan of attack to bring a similar winning mentality to College Station, a place he is already very comfortable in.

“The conversations with the new staff hold more weight and the plans they want to accomplish have a deeper meaning and different intensity about it,” he said. “They have an opportunity to flip the program around and they have the resources, the mentality, and the teachings to do so.”
